The town of Monteagle is primarily located in Grundy County<1>. A portion of Monteagle extends into Marion County and Franklin County.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Monteagle, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1888.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Monteagle has a population of 1,234 people<3> (see below for details).

Monteagle is 1,860 feet [567 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: Monteagle lies in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel east from Monteagle (for example, toward Signal Mountain), you will leave Central Time and cross into the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Monteagle had an population of 1,234 people. This is an increase of 3.52% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 0.32% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Monteagle had a population of 1,192 people (or 8.7% of the total population of Grundy County). This makes Monteagle the county's 5th most populous community.

The population of Monteagle represents 0.02% of the total population of Tennessee (which has 6,346,105 people), making it the state's 222nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,192 people, the population of Monteagle decreased 3.72% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,238 people).
