The community of Kittanning is the Seat for Armstrong County.

Armstrong County was founded March 12, 1800. Armstrong was created by taking area from Allegheny, Westmoreland and Lycoming Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Armstrong had a population of 64,699 people. This is a decrease of 6.15% since the last Census (which gave a population of 68,941 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Armstrong represented 0.54% of the total population of Pennsylvania.
