The community of Inez is the Seat for Martin County.

Martin County was founded in 1870. Martin was created by taking area from Floyd, Johnson, Pike and Lawrence Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Martin had a population of 11,258 people. This is a decrease of 12.92% since the last Census (which gave a population of 12,929 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Martin represented 0.3% of the total population of Kentucky.
