At the time of the 2010 Census, Torrington had a population of 6,501 people (or 49.07% of the total population of Goshen County). This makes Torrington the county's most populous community.

The population of Torrington represents 1.15% of the total population of Wyoming (which has 563,626 people), making it the state's 14th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 6,501 people, the population of Torrington increased 12.55% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 5,776 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Torrington was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Torrington post office opened in 1889.

We also found Torrington in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
