Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Sheridan had an population of 18,011 people. This is an increase of 3.25% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 13.96% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Sheridan had a population of 17,444 people (or 59.91% of the total population of Sheridan County). This makes Sheridan the county's most populous community.

The population of Sheridan represents 3.09% of the population of Wyoming (which has 563,626 people), making it the state's 6th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 17,444 people, the population of Sheridan increased 10.38% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 15,804 people).

We originally found mention of Sheridan in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Sheridan was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Sheridan post office opened in 1882.

We also found Sheridan in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
