Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Lusk had an population of 1,514 people. This is a decrease of 3.38% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 4.63% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Lusk had a population of 1,567 people (which is 63.08% of the total population of Niobrara County). This makes Lusk the county's most populous community.

We originally found mention of Lusk in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Lusk was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Lusk post office opened in 1884.

We also found Lusk in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
