Platte County was founded in 1911 and was created by taking area from Laramie County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Platte had a population of 8,475 people. This is a decrease of 2.22% since the last Census (which gave a population of 8,667 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Platte represented 1.54% of the total population of Wyoming.
