At the time of the 2010 Census, Thomas had a population of 586 people (or 8.21% of the total population of Tucker County). This makes Thomas the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Thomas represents 0.03% of the total population of West Virginia (which has 1,852,994 people), making it the state's 153rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 586 people, the population of Thomas increased 29.65% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 452 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Thomas was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Thomas post office opened in 1884.

We also found Thomas in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
