The community of Webster Springs is the Seat for Webster County.

Webster County was founded in 1860. Webster was created by taking area from Braxton, Nicholas and Randolph Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Webster had a population of 8,179 people. This is a decrease of 10.65% since the last Census (which gave a population of 9,154 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Webster represented 0.49% of the total population of West Virginia.
