Randolph County was founded in 1787 and was created by taking area from Harrison County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Randolph had a population of 28,670 people. This is a decrease of 2.5% since the last Census (which gave a population of 29,405 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Randolph represented 1.59% of the total population of West Virginia.
