Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Clarksburg had an population of 15,583 people. This is a decrease of 6% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 6.93% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Clarksburg had a population of 16,578 people (which is 23.99% of the total population of Harrison County). This makes Clarksburg the county's most populous community.

The population of Clarksburg represents 0.89% of the population of West Virginia (which has 1,852,994 people), making it the state's 10th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 16,578 people, the population of Clarksburg has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (which had a count of 16,743 people).
