Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Waukesha had an population of 72,352 people. This is an increase of 2.31% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 11.61% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Waukesha had a population of 70,718 people (which is 18.14% of the total population of Waukesha County). This makes Waukesha the county's most populous community.

The population of Waukesha represents 1.24% of the total population of Wisconsin (which has 5,686,986 people), making it the state's 7th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 70,718 people, the population of Waukesha increased 9.09% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 64,825 people).

We originally found mention of Waukesha in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Waukesha was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Waukesha post office opened in 1847.

We also found Waukesha in the book titled Table of U.S. Post Offices in the United States (Jan. 1851).
