At the time of the 2010 Census, Sauk City had a population of 3,410 people (which is 5.5% of the total population of Sauk County). This makes Sauk City the county's 4th most populous community.

The population of Sauk City represents 0.06% of the total population of Wisconsin (which has 5,686,986 people), making it the state's 259th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 3,410 people, the population of Sauk City increased 9.68% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 3,109 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Sauk City was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Sauk City post office opened in 1852.

We also found Sauk City in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
