At the time of the 2010 Census, Oshkosh had a population of 66,083 people (which is 39.57% of the total population of Winnebago County). This makes Oshkosh the county's most populous community.

The population of Oshkosh represents 1.16% of the total population of Wisconsin (which has 5,686,986 people), making it the state's 8th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 66,083 people, the population of Oshkosh increased 5.03% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 62,916 people).

We originally found mention of Oshkosh in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Oshkosh was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Oshkosh post office opened in 1840.

We also found Oshkosh in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
