At the time of the 2010 Census, Eagle River had a population of 1,398 people (or 6.52% of the total population of Vilas County). This makes Eagle River the county's 6th most populous community.

We originally found mention of Eagle River in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Eagle River was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Eagle River post office opened in 1883.

We also found Eagle River in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
