Rusk County was founded in 1901 and was created by taking area from Chippewa County. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Rusk had a population of 14,091 people. This is a decrease of 4.5% since the last Census (which gave a population of 14,755 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Rusk represented 0.26% of the total population of Wisconsin.
