Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Baraboo had an population of 12,146 people. This is an increase of 0.81% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 13.4% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Baraboo had a population of 12,048 people (or 19.44% of the total population of Sauk County). This makes Baraboo the county's most populous community.

The population of Baraboo represents 0.21% of the population of Wisconsin (which has 5,686,986 people), making it the state's 72nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 12,048 people, the population of Baraboo increased 12.48% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 10,711 people).

We originally found mention of Baraboo in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Baraboo was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Baraboo post office opened in 1847.

We also found Baraboo in the book titled Table of U.S. Post Offices in the United States (Jan. 1851).
