Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Appleton had an population of 74,051 people. This is an increase of 1.97% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 5.66% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Appleton had a population of 72,623 people (which is 41.1% of the total population of Outagamie County). This makes Appleton the county's most populous community.

The population of Appleton represents 1.28% of the population of Wisconsin (which has 5,686,986 people), making it the state's 6th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 72,623 people, the population of Appleton increased 3.62% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 70,087 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Appleton was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Appleton post office opened in 1849.

We also found Appleton in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
