At the time of the 2000 Census, Vancouver had a population of 143,560 people. This represented 2.43% of the total population of Washington, making it the state's 4th most populous community.

From the Census estimates^<1> for 2007, Vancouver had a population of 161,436 people. This is an increase of 12.45% since the 2000 Census.
