At the time of the 2000 Census, Vancouver had a population of 143,560 people^<3> (or 41.3% of the total population of Clark County). The population of Vancouver represented 2.44% of the total of Washington, making it the state's 4th most populous community.

From the Census Estimates for 2008, Vancouver had a population of 163,186 people. This is an increase of 13.67% since the 2000 Census.
