Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Spokane had an population of 221,804 people. This is an increase of 6.17% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 13.38% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Spokane had a population of 208,916 people (which is 44.34% of the total population of Spokane County). This makes Spokane the county's most populous community.

The population of Spokane represents 3.11% of the population of Washington (which has 6,724,540 people), making it the state's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 208,916 people, the population of Spokane increased 6.79% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 195,629 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Spokane was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<9>

From that list, the Spokane post office opened in 1891.

We also found Spokane in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
