Douglas County was founded in 1883 and was created by taking area from Lincoln County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Douglas had a population of 43,251 people. This is an increase of 12.54% since the last Census (which gave a population of 38,431 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Douglas represented 0.57% of the total population of Washington.
