Clallam County was founded in 1854 and was created by taking area from Jefferson County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Clallam had a population of 77,457 people. This is an increase of 8.48% since the last Census (which gave a population of 71,404 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Clallam represented 1.06% of the total population of Washington.
