At the time of the 2010 Census, Bellingham had a population of 80,885 people (which is 40.21% of the total population of Whatcom County). This makes Bellingham the county's most populous community.

The population of Bellingham represents 1.2% of the total population of Washington (which has 6,724,540 people), making it the state's 12th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 80,885 people, the population of Bellingham increased 20.42% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 67,171 people).
