Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Claremont had an population of 335 people. This is a decrease of 11.38% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 2.33% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Claremont had a population of 378 people (or 5.36% of the total population of Surry County). This makes Claremont the county's most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 378 people, the population of Claremont increased 10.2% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 343 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Claremont was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Claremont post office opened in 1883.

We also found Claremont in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
