Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Bridgewater had an population of 6,150 people. This is an increase of 8.97% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 18.2% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Bridgewater had a population of 5,644 people (or 7.4% of the total population of Rockingham County). This makes Bridgewater the county's most populous community.

The population of Bridgewater represents 0.07% of the population of Virginia (which has 8,001,024 people), making it the state's 60th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 5,644 people, the population of Bridgewater increased 8.48% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 5,203 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Bridgewater was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Bridgewater post office opened in 1838.

We also found Bridgewater in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
