Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Sandy had an population of 96,215 people. This is an increase of 10.01% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 8.82% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Sandy had a population of 87,461 people (which is 8.49% of the total population of Salt Lake County). This makes Sandy the county's 4th most populous community.

The population of Sandy represents 3.16% of the population of Utah (which has 2,763,885 people), making it the state's 6th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 87,461 people, the population of Sandy decreased 1.08% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 88,418 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Sandy was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Sandy post office opened in 1872.
