At the time of the 2010 Census, Wylie had a population of 41,427 people (or 5.3% of the total population of Collin County). This makes Wylie the county's 5th most populous community.

The population of Wylie represents 0.16% of the population of Texas (which has 25,145,561 people), making it the state's 70th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 41,427 people, the population of Wylie increased 173.77% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 15,132 people).
