From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for South Houston was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the South Houston post office opened in 1908.

We also found South Houston on a map titled Road Map for Texas (from Shell Oil, 1956).
