At the time of the 2010 Census, Garland had a population of 226,876 people (or 9.58% of the total population of Dallas County). This makes Garland the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Garland represents 0.9% of the total population of Texas (which has 25,145,561 people), making it the state's 12th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 226,876 people, the population of Garland increased 5.15% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 215,768 people).
