Waller County was founded in 1873. Waller was created by taking area from Austin and Grimes Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Waller had a population of 55,311 people. This is an increase of 28.02% since the last Census (which gave a population of 43,205 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Waller represented 0.17% of the total population of Texas.
