Medina County was founded in 1848 and was created by taking area from Bexar County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Medina had a population of 51,608 people. This is an increase of 12.18% since the last Census (which gave a population of 46,006 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Medina represented 0.18% of the total population of Texas.
