The community of Hillsboro is the Seat for Hill County.

Hill County was founded in 1853 and was created by taking area from Navarro County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Hill had a population of 36,536 people. This is an increase of 4.12% since the last Census (which gave a population of 35,089 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Hill represented 0.14% of the total population of Texas.
