The community of New Braunfels is the Seat for Comal County.

Comal County was founded in 1846. Comal was created by taking area from Bexar, Gonzales and Travis Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Comal had a population of 156,435 people. This is an increase of 44.22% since the last Census (which gave a population of 108,472 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Comal represented 0.43% of the total population of Texas.
