Bosque County was founded in 1854. Bosque was created by taking area from McLennan and Milam Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Bosque had a population of 18,594 people. This is an increase of 2.1% since the last Census (which gave a population of 18,212 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Bosque represented 0.07% of the total population of Texas.
