Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Commerce had an population of 9,670 people. This is an increase of 19.71% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 26.09% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Commerce had a population of 8,078 people (which is 9.38% of the total population of Hunt County). This makes Commerce the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Commerce represents 0.03% of the population of Texas (which has 25,145,561 people), making it the state's 241st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 8,078 people, the population of Commerce increased 5.33% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 7,669 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Commerce was on a map titled Map of Texas (from Rand McNally, 1911).

We also found Commerce in the book titled .<8> From that list, the Commerce post office opened in 1880.
