Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Petersburg had an population of 572 people. This is an increase of 5.15% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 1.38% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Petersburg had a population of 544 people. This makes Petersburg the county's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 544 people, the population of Petersburg decreased 6.21% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 580 people).
