Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Loretto had an population of 1,776 people. This is an increase of 3.62% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 6.67% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Loretto had a population of 1,714 people. This makes Loretto the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Loretto represents 0.03% of the population of Tennessee (which has 6,346,105 people), making it the state's 184th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,714 people, the population of Loretto increased 2.94% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 1,665 people).

We originally found mention of Loretto in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Loretto was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Loretto post office opened in 1873.

We also found Loretto on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Tennessee (1888).
