At the time of the 2010 Census, Lexington had a population of 7,652 people (or 27.56% of the total population of Henderson County). This makes Lexington the county's most populous community.

The population of Lexington represents 0.12% of the population of Tennessee (which has 6,346,105 people), making it the state's 71st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 7,652 people, the population of Lexington increased 3.5% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 7,393 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Lexington was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Lexington post office opened in 1824.

We also found Lexington in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
