While we don't have a date for the founding of Humboldt, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1888.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Humboldt has a population of 8,157 people<3> (see below for details).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Humboldt had an population of 8,157 people. This is a decrease of 3.49% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 13.84% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Humboldt had a population of 8,452 people (or 17.01% of the total population of Gibson County). This makes Humboldt the county's most populous community.

The population of Humboldt represents 0.13% of the population of Tennessee (which has 6,346,105 people), making it the state's 61st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 8,452 people, the population of Humboldt decreased 10.72% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 9,467 people).
