The community of Hartsville is the Seat for Trousdale County.

Trousdale County was founded in 1870. Trousdale was created by taking area from Wilson, Macon, Smith and Sumner Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Trousdale had a population of 11,277 people. This is an increase of 43.29% since the last Census (which gave a population of 7,870 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Trousdale represented 0.12% of the total population of Tennessee.
