From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Nisland was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Nisland post office opened in 1909.

We also found Nisland on a map titled Shell Oil Road Map for South Dakota (1949).
