At the time of the 2010 Census, Hermosa had a population of 398 people. This makes Hermosa the county's 4th most populous community.

The population of Hermosa represents 0.05% of the population of South Dakota (which has 814,180 people), making it the state's 183rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 398 people, the population of Hermosa increased 26.35% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 315 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Hermosa was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Hermosa post office opened in 1886.

We also found Hermosa in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
