At the time of the 2010 Census, Dupree had a population of 525 people (which is 18.74% of the total population of Ziebach County). This makes Dupree the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Dupree represents 0.06% of the total population of South Dakota (which has 814,180 people), making it the state's 150th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 525 people, the population of Dupree increased 20.97% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 434 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Dupree was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Dupree post office opened in 1910.

We also found Dupree on a map titled Rand McNally Map of South Dakota (1937).
