Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Draper had an population of 68 people. This is a decrease of 17.07% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 26.09% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Draper had a population of 82 people (which is 8.15% of the total population of Jones County). This makes Draper the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Draper represents 0.01% of the population of South Dakota (which has 814,180 people), making it the state's 323rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 82 people, the population of Draper decreased 10.87% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 92 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Draper was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Draper post office opened in 1906.

We also found Draper on a map titled Shell Oil Road Map for South Dakota (1949).
