Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Colome had an population of 279 people. This is a decrease of 5.74% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 17.94% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Colome had a population of 296 people (which is 5.24% of the total population of Tripp County). This makes Colome the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Colome represents 0.04% of the total population of South Dakota (which has 814,180 people), making it the state's 208th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 296 people, the population of Colome decreased 12.94% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 340 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Colome was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Colome post office opened in 1909.
