Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Clark had an population of 1,065 people. This is a decrease of 6.5% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 17.12% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Clark had a population of 1,139 people (which is 30.86% of the total population of Clark County). This makes Clark the county's most populous community.

The population of Clark represents 0.14% of the total population of South Dakota (which has 814,180 people), making it the state's 82nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,139 people, the population of Clark decreased 11.36% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,285 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Clark was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Clark post office opened in 1880.

We also found Clark in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
