Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Mount Pleasant had an population of 91,950 people. This is an increase of 35.53% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 93.14% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Mount Pleasant had a population of 67,843 people (which is 19.37% of the total population of Charleston County). This makes Mount Pleasant the county's most populous community.

The population of Mount Pleasant represents 1.47% of the total population of South Carolina (which has 4,625,364 people), making it the state's 4th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 67,843 people, the population of Mount Pleasant increased 42.5% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 47,609 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Mount Pleasant was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Mount Pleasant post office opened in 1875.
