At the time of the 2010 Census, Hampton had a population of 2,808 people (which is 13.31% of the total population of Hampton County). This makes Hampton the county's most populous community.

The population of Hampton represents 0.06% of the total population of South Carolina (which has 4,625,364 people), making it the state's 91st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 2,808 people, the population of Hampton decreased 1.02% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 2,837 people).
