The community of Conway is the Seat for Horry County.

Horry County was founded in 1801 and was created by taking area from Georgetown County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Horry had a population of 354,418 people. This is an increase of 31.61% since the last Census (which gave a population of 269,291 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Horry represented 5.82% of the total population of South Carolina.
